Week 4 - June 2 - 8, 2007

June 3, 2007

Puppies are really quite comfortable in their new surroundings now and loving all the extra space - well most of the time!  When cleaning out their area, I have been putting them in the pool so that they are not underfoot.  As yet, there weren't able to get back out.  Well Bailey decided this was a great place to feed her babies and they all settled in quite nicely so that I could clean and bleach the floor.  Wonderful until Bailey decided that enough was enough and all but a few decided to follow her!  They can now get out of the pool on their own, (it will be nice when they figure out how to get in and use it for it's intended purpose - "poop bed") so that won't work anymore!  What to do next?

.... and looking for a more comfortable position I guess!

Mr Red and Miss Purple still in the pool trying to figure out how to get out.

Mr Red says oh well, I'll just stay in here and eat pellets!!

Don't worry, they are wood pellets and turn into saw dust once wet.  They are biodegradable and easily digested if ingested.  Works well for the poop bed!  Very easy clean-up!!!!!

That's it for now.  I will get more photos later this week.  Things should be more quiet around here now that Nick's birthday is over with!  Big job turning 5!!!  I should have more time to get more photos later this week!  I will try and talk my daughter into some individual shots of the puppies so you can see their adorable faces!!!

Finally had a chance to get some individual photos done - what a hoot!  Jessie took them one by one and put them on the washer and I was ready with the camera to shoot!  Well, not as easy as it sounds!  LOL  They are moving a lot more now and love people so they kept trying to walk toward us.  Too funny!!!  You will see in a few of the photos that they are really close up, those would be the ones that just couldn't sit still long enough to get their photos taken.  After cleaning out their play area for tonight, I took a few more shots of them at play.  They love it when I clean up down there and are really starting to get vocal.  I will have to take a video soon for you all to enjoy, they are just so funny barking and making growling noises at each other!

Now don't get too attached to any one of them - hold yourself back!  They are the cutest ever at 3 1/2 weeks old!!!!!

Check out the ones on the inside chewing on each other!

They have certainly found their legs now and love running in and out of the jungle gym

All 7 trying their best to crawl on me and chew my slippers!

Are they cute or what?

Bailey is starting to show signs of weaning the puppies, so now the fun really begins!  She has done a great job so far, so now it's my turn to help out.  We will start feeding them soaked, mashed puppy food tomorrow morning, so stay tuned for shots of their first meal!  They'll be a messy bunch!

Pictures are worth a thousand words!  Need I say more?

Figuring out what's in the bowl

Now they're all checking it out

Looks like they like it!

Funny how at least one of them feels the need to get right in the bowl!

Miss Pink hogging all the food!

June 8, 2007

Well, Friday morning and I have to get puppies fed, kids ready for school, myself ready for work and time is of the essence.  So instead of waiting for the food to soak in the boiling water, I decide to try something that I have heard other breeders do.  I got out my old blender and proceeded to grind up the food that way.  The only problem was, that it was too thick so I had to keep adding water to it to get it to mix up.  What I ended up with was puppy food puree!  Absolutely disgusting!  As you can see below, they were absolutely a disaster after eating and it took me even longer to clean up!  I will never do that again!!!!!!

Puppy puree!!

Is this gross or what?  They could eat this stuff through a straw!
