Week 6 - June 16 - 22, 2007

June 18, 2007

Had a few minutes to take photos of the puppies and wouldn't you know it, my camera dies!  Remind me to get more batteries!  Here is the one and only photo I got that day.  The puppies are eating outside on the lawn in their pen.  The very next day, I went out and bought a 50ft roll of fencing and some posts to make them a temporary pen out in the yard.  They are just too big now for that little pen I have.  All my exercise pens are being used so this was the next best thing!

Well, there is always a first time for everything and we have had another first.  Miss Pink has an eye problem called Entropian.  This is where the eye lid curls in toward the eye and irritates the eye ball with the eye lashes.  This makes the eye weep all the time.  I first thought that she had been scratched by one of the other puppies when they were nursing, but it didn't correct itself after a bout of antibiotics.  So off to the vet for some corrective surgery.  At this tender age, they can only tack the eye lid down with a few sutures.  She came through the surgery with flying colours and her eye has finally stopped weeping.

This is our little Miss Pink just after getting home from her sugery.  It really looks a lot worse than what it is.  It's getting much better and here's hoping the tacking works and she doesn't have to have surgery to correct the problem when she gets older.  They say that growth can also correct it.  Once the eye grows into the socket, it usually fixed itself on its own.  Sure hope we don't have to go through this too many times!

Batteries are now charged so I took the camera outside with me when I was getting ready to bring the puppies in for the night.  They get put outside when the kids get home from school and stay outside until it starts to get dark.  They enjoy having the space to move around more and I like that I don't have to clean up poop in their poop bed downstairs!  LOL  They love watching the cars go by and anyone walking always stops to see them, so they just love all the attention too!

Bailey in with the puppies in their new pen.  The photos seem a bit dark but that is only because it was actually starting to get dark when I took them.

Bailey playing with the puppies, or should I say the puppies attacking their mom!

Bailey getting it from all angles.

The puppies just love crawling all over their mom and she loves it too!

Bailey fighting back.  She plays so nicely with the puppies these days.  She really didn't play much with them before now.  Just was a great mom by feeding and cleaning up after them.

Well, maybe she doesn't play nicely all the time.  Here she is sitting on Miss Pink!  LOL  She is struggling to get out from under her tail!

This is our handsome Mr. Red

And our pretty little girl Miss Rainbow!
