Ramblin Goldens

From Our Family to Yours

Masonridge Ramblin Bailey - aka BAILEY

Bailey is from Carol's Rory/Mario litter born March 25, 2005.  She has been a great addition to our breeding program!  She has a great pedigree behind her and has the sweetest personality!  She is very cuddly and was an absolute angel in the truck on our 7 1/2 hour journey home from Carol's place near Brockville, Ontario!  What a long drive and on the Friday of a long weekend!  Remind me never to do that again!

Anyway, since we already had too many dogs in our house, we found a great foster home for our little Bailey in Port Elgin (next town)!  We will be able to see her lots and she will come and stay here when they go away.  I am looking forward to getting to know her better and hopefully, if she passes all her tests, she will be able to have a few litters for us.  Bailey has gone to live with the Watt family and is loved very much.  They also have a teacup poodle, so getting a puppy was the only option to ensure they get along and the poodle doesn't get hurt!  His little head was the size of one of our big guy's feet!

I look forward to watching Bailey grow and spending lots of time with her in the future!  Thanks Carol for this special little girl and Glen, Lynette and family for doing such a great job in raising her!

I went to see Bailey recently and she is doing very well.  Staying nice and small and coming into her own quite nicely!  She will make a great mom one day.  She will go for her health testing this year and will hopefully have her first litter of puppies in either late 2006 or early 2007!

Bailey enjoying a snowstorm!

Does she look humiliated or what?  What a pretty princess! (Halloween 2005)

We got a couple of new photos from our Foster Family of Bailey - wow she is turning out great!  She passed her eye and heart testing with flying colours - just the hips and elbows to go, so cross your fingers and toes for me cause I think she will have some great puppies one day if she passes all her clearances.

Update - October 28, 2006

Well, it looks like Bailey will be out next prospect for being a mom!  I took Miss Bailey to Hillsburgh on Thursday, October 26, 2006 for her hip and elbow testing and received the official results from the OVC, the x-rays looked "excellent" and she passed with flying colours!!  Now, if she would only come into heat!!  LOL

Update - August 28, 2009

Bailey has given us 3 wonderful litters so far and will hopefully give us one more next spring.  She is a very attentive mom and loves her puppies!   They all have wonderful temperaments and have grown into wonderful family companions!  After her next litter, Bailey will retire and continue to live with the Watt family in Port Elgin.  Check out her past litters in our Photo Album!

2006

Well, 2006 is over and it was quite a year to say the least!  We had some not so nice changes to our Clan over the last year and a half and I hope we don't have to do this too often!!!  We have gone from 5 dogs in our house down to 2 since the end of August 2005.  First to go was Cody (retired) to a great home in Collingwood - a wonderful couple that love him dearly!  Second to go was Rankin (due to his heart murmur) in early October to a great couple in London that also love him very much!  And lastly, Haley went to her new home in December to be loved by a wonderful family in Kitchener.  It is hard letting one of your kids go (and they are like kids to me), let alone 3 in such a short time!  It was an extremely hard thing to do and I didn't do it well either as many of the new owners can attest to.  One more of our clan is now in her new home as well - Now that Alex is finished with her last litter, she has retired and gone to live with a great woman here in Southampton.  She is enjoying the life of luxury, being the only dog in the house and getting all the attention!  She just loves people and I know she will be happier in the long run.  It was not easy letting her go either since we have been through so much together having 4 litters of puppies and having a C-section with the 3rd one, but knowing that she has made someone very happy has made it a little easier and the fact that she is in Town and will come back to visit when Diane goes away is great!

At any rate, a new year brings new beginnings but it was an exciting year and one I will not soon forget!  We had Alex's last litter in late January , Casey had her first litter March 25th and her 2nd litter November 1st, so three great litters were born to Ramblin Goldens this year!  That was a first - we have only ever had 1 litter a year for the past 7 years.  Check out the Past Puppies page for details.

Also, a new addition arrived the end of January!  He will make a great addition to our breeding program some day and it will be nice to finally have our own stud dog!  I really have high hopes for this guy so keep your fingers crossed for me.  I looked long and hard and finally found what I think will compliment our girls very nicely and he comes from healthy lineage too, so he should pass all his clearances as well!  We plan to do some obedience trials with him and have just finished his conformation Championship!  Not me of course (not really much into the show world and don't like to be on display), Colin Brownlee was gracious enough to do it for me - Thanks Colin!

We also kept one of Casey's pups out of her first litter (Ramblin's Charlie Brown) and he is in a great foster home so that we had enough room for another new female pup we kept from Casey's second litter to keep our breeding program going in the future.  Smooch (Ramblin's Hugs N Kisses) will make a great addition to the Ramblin Goldens Clan!  We have had another unexpected keeper - Bruiser (Ramblin's Blackeyes N Bruises) was just too nice to let go!  He has all the makings to be our next show Champion, so watch out for our first Ramblin puppy to hit the ring this spring!

So as you see, with our future plans, we just didn't have room to keep the treasures that we couldn't use for breeding.  As tough as it was, unfortunately, it was necessary.  I am beginning to think that Jeff has a method to his madness!  I think he knows that if I get my way and we move to the country, we will have more dogs in the house than people ............. far more!  LOL

Stay tuned for updates on our new additions as they come and another great year for Ramblin Goldens!

Kashuba's Ramblin Blaze N Time – aka Blaze

Well, he is finally here!  Blaze arrived by plane from Thunder Bay on Friday, January 20, 2006 at the Toronto Pearson International Airport.  What a rig-a-marole that was!  They really need better signage to find the WestJet Cargo - for anyone else getting a puppy shipped by WestJet, you have to go to Britannia Rd and go almost all the way to the end - they are in Building No. 1 (not 3).

Everything was fine when we (thanks Helen for going with me - I never would have found it alone!) got to him and he is just awesome!  He is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the show ring - wow, does he have attitude!  He is very full of himself and absolutely has fallen in love with Nick.  They have been inseparable from the moment they met!  Blaze always tries to get into Nick's room at bedtime to sleep on the floor and if the door is left open, Blaze loves taking his toys into Nick's room to play with them.

Well, I am really glad those first few sleepless nights are over - he didn't much like his crate, but it is going much better now.  He is absolutely wonderful and a big thank you to Judy Kashuba of South Gillies, Ontario for entrusting me with this great boy!  I look forward to working with you to obtain Blaze's conformation title and to our visit this fall!

Our poor birch tree on the front lawn - hope we don't lose any brances!

Blaze absolutely loves to play with Casey.

He is always chewing on her and since she is so docile and the motherly type, she just lets him do it!  Does she have pleading eyes or what?  I do step in once in a while and relieve her.

He really just likes to be near her all the time!

Blaze - April 1, 2006 - 4 months old
While Helen was here checking out Casey's puppies, she gave me a quick lesson on "stacking" Blaze to get him ready for the show ring this summer. I think he is a natural and didn't do too bad!  I have been trying to stack him so he is getting used to it, but he looks a whole lot better when someone that knows what the are doing stacks him up right!

Blaze has started his show career!  We started out in St. Catherines (July 23, 2006) at the Golden Retriever Specialty and for his first show, he did all right!  He won 4th in his class (Junior Puppy)!  Not the best, but at least he got his first ribbon!

Next we were off to the Owen Sound show for 3 days (August 8 - 10, 2006).  On his first day, he won first in his class, Best Puppy in Breed and Reserve Winners Dog (he beat out 3 other adult males for this title) and went on to compete for Best Puppy in Group but he didn't make it!!  On his second and third days he won first in his class again and Best Puppy in Breed as well as went on to compete for Best Puppy in Group again both days.  So far, no points, but we are having fun!

Blaze hangin out in his x-pen waiting to go in the ring

Our next show was in Bradford for a day (August 13, 2006).  He got a second in his class there!  A big thank you to Handler and Breeder Kim MacDonald for her efforts and expertise in handling Blaze for his first 3 shows!

My handsome dude at 9 months old!

Is this a face, or is this a face?

Judy (Blaze's breeder) has been asking me for some photos of my handsome dude, so I took a few the other day.  Blaze is now just over 9 months old and is looking amazing!

Time to get serious!  Blaze finally gets some points at the Elora Gorge Kennel Club Show in Kitchener, ON in late December!  Check out his wins on our Something to Brag About page.

Blaze is now a new Champion!!!!  Blaze takes 2 Best of Breed wins at the Wildwood Kennel Club show in Woodstock, ON in early February, 2007!  Check him out!  More info on our
Something to Brag About page.  Thanks Colin, you're the best!

Update - March 2007

2 down and 2 to go!  I took Blaze to the Hillsburgh Vet Clinic in early March to get his eye and heart clearances and he passed with flying colours!  Yeah!!!!!  Now just the hips and elbows to go in June.  Keep those fingers crossed!  If all goes well, he will be bred with Casey for her next litter late this year!

Update - May 2007

Blaze is filling out quite nicely and is a wonderful dog to have around!  He is always happy and very confident and loves everyone he meets!  He is getting more gorgeous by the day if that is possible and his favourite passtime is to play fetch with Casey and Smooch.  He even gets to the ball first on occassion.  Not too many can outsmart Casey - she is the fetching champion of our household!

I got camera happy the other day, so here are the results:

Blaze smiling at me!  Yes, he needs a good grooming, but I leave that show grooming up to the professionals.  At home, we just let him be who he is!

Blaze taking a breather after searching for a ball for me to throw since I won't throw the shinny silver object in my hand (camera)!!

Blaze looking all majestic like hangin' out on the lawn under the birch tree.

Only a few more weeks till we can take him for his hip, elbow and thyroid clearances, keep your fingers crossed for me!  Wow, is he almost 18 months old already?  Time sure flies when you are having a blast!

Stay tuned for more photos of this great guy as he grows!

An inspirational Story

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like Mother of Pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.

He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?" "This is Heaven, sir," the man answered. "Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked. "Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up." The man gestured, and the gate began to open. "Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked. "I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets." The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog. After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road, which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book. "Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water?" "Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in." "How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog. "There should be a bowl by the pump." They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.

The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree. "What do you call this place?" the traveler asked. "This is Heaven," he answered. "Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too." "Oh, you mean the place with the golden streets and pearly gates? Nope. That's Hell." "Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?" "No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind."

Stud Dogs We Have Used:

Kantung Nugget of Gold – aka MAX

Max is owned by a breeder friend of mine that lives near Hanover, Ontario.  He was born on May 5, 2001 and is only a few days older than Alex.  Max has a sweet loving temperament and is very solid in structure.  He has a beautiful large boxy head and a gorgeous thick coat and is medium gold in colour.  Max's Pedigree.

Max and Alex made a wonderful couple and had gorgeous babies together.  The pups are very sweet, easy-going, medium coloured puppies with good solid bone structure.  We may use Max again in the future, since he makes such great puppies.

I had the pleasure of spending a day with Max last fall ('04).  I took him to the OVC in Guelph to have his heart tested by a Cardiologist.  He is such a character, once we were done signing in at the front counter, the receptionist told me to take a seat; instantly Max jumped up on the bench and sat down.  He also jumped up in the chair when we were taken to our examining room.  The attending vet students couldn't stop laughing  By the way, he passed with flying colours and now has his heart clearance as well as his hips and eyes!

Later that day, we made some visits to other breeders and Max did very well.  He was so well behaved and loved the truck rides.  He does need to work on his table manners though, he tried to eat my sandwich right out of my mouth - I guess he was hungry!!  When we finally got back to his house to drop him off, he instantly went to his bed and ate his supper and then proceeded to show me his most favourite spots to relax!  The first photo is of Max on his chair in the shop and the second one to the right is of Max up on his table in front of the window, where he can watch over everyone!  He was so proud of himself, and so he should be, what a great guy!!!!!!

If you are interested in using Max for stud purposes, please contact Doris Milligan at dmilli3@hotmail.com .

Our Dogs that Have Moved On or Retired

 Judi's Only Codey - aka – CODY

Cody is 6 years old and my first.  He came into my life at a tough time and was a great comfort.  He filled the shoes of the "Man of the House" quite well.  He is a Field Golden and has the typical energy and enthusiasm of that particular type.  He loves to fetch - it's what he lives for.  As soon as he gets outside the first thing he does is find a ball, frisbee, stick, garden tool, whatever he can find and bring it to me to throw.  He will stand there and wait until someone, anyone will throw it.  Cody fetches "till the cows come home".  We usually have to make him stop before he collapses.

He also loves to go for walks down to the beach and play in the water.  He is a great dog with a very loving, loyal  temperament!!  Cody is our retired stud dog and is now fixed.

Cody went to live with the Gorrie's of Collingwood in August of 2005.  This was the hardest thing I have had to do in a long time!  It was tough giving up something that meant so much to me for a lot of different reasons, but I knew I was being selfish and he really deserved to be the only dog in someone's house to get the attention he craved so much!  One of the drawbacks to being a breeder instead of just owning a few goldens is that the dogs just don't get that one-on-one attention, although we do our best!!!!  I will continue to keep track of him and how he is doing in the years to come and I know that George and Lisbet will give him the love and attention he deserves!  Thanks for giving him such a great home, I couldn't have let him go if he wasn't going to such an awesome, loving home!  Cody is very special and will remain in our hearts forever!

Cody - January 8, 2005 playing his favourite winter game.  This is an old partially deflated basketball that Rankin has claimed and it seems to be Cody's mission in life to steal it from him!

Camgold Alex – aka ALEX

Alex was born on May 9, 2001 and came to us in the summer of 2001 while my daughter and I were on vacation.  We were out for a drive in my dad’s new truck and drove past a breeder on the outskirts of town.  In the back yard were a few puppies playing.  We went in and it was love at first site.  She came home with us the next day and started that day in Puppy Class.  She was the “Belle of the Ball”, everyone loved her.  She didn’t care too much about being there though and fell asleep in the middle of the class.

She has grown up to be a very gentle, loving dog and a great mom.  She had her first litter in March of 2003, her second in February of 2004 and now her third in February of 2005.  Even though the puppies were weaned on photo day, the puppies managed to sneak in one last bite.

Alex is very solid in bone structure and has a beautiful boxey head.  She also loves our little 3 year old boy and lets him climb all over her and she doesn't even budge!  This photos is of Alex in August 2004.

Click here to view Alex's Pedigree.  Alex is certified clear of Hip Displaysia by the OVC and has passed her yearly eye exams.  She has also had her heart tested by a Certified Cardiologist at the OVC and was certified clear of any congenital heart problems.  Check out our Past Puppies page for photos of Alex's 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th litters.

April 2, 2006 Update:

Since Alex is now retired and deserves to be doted on after giving us 4 great litters, I made the tough decision to find her a new home.  She has gone to live with a great lady here in Southampton and will come back and stay with us whenever she has to go away.  It will be nice to have her close to home so I can still see her and I know she will have a great life with Diane!  Thanks Diane for giving Alex a great home and for loving her as much as I do!

Bonnieview’s Ramblin Rankin – aka RANKIN

I spent a lot of time trying to find another puppy and hadn’t had any luck finding exactly what I wanted.  After all, he was going to be our new “Studmuffin”.  On our way home from a hockey tournament one Sunday night, we drove past a breeder and decided to check them out.  When getting to the door, I realized it was suppertime but they invited us in anyway.  They just happened to have a litter of puppies and we fell in love – again.  It doesn’t take much with these puppies.

Rankin loved to ride in the bottom of the stroller when he was little.  Everytime we took him for a walk we wouldn't get far before he would dig in his heels and not move, so in he would go, right into the bottom of the stroller and ride there quite content until he decided he wanted to walk again.  He visited the Sugarbush Festival this way and boy did we get a lot of comments.

He was exactly what we had been looking for and more.  He is very gentle, loving and always wants to be right at your feet when you watch TV.  He has grown up to be quite handsome with his big head, multi-tonal creamy coat and those gorgeous flowing feathers – oo-la-la.  His feet are huge, but I think he has finally stopped growing!  He also loves to fetch and used to steal the Frisbee or ball from Cody all the time.  He was quite easy to raise and train.  You would have thought he was already grown up at the age of 6 months and wins hearts wherever he goes.

Rankin passed his yearly eye exam on May 1, 2004 and was certified clear of hip and elbow displaysia by the OVC in November of 2004!  Unfortunately, Rankin did not pass his heart clearance and has a soft murmur   We won't be able to use Rankin for breeding and have had to make the tough decision to place him in a new home.   Since we only have a small number of dogs and they all live with us in our home, they become part of the family and we grow very attached to them.  We love him to death and I was told by the Cardiologist that he will be fine and will live a good long life, just that he can't be used for breeding.  He told me to treat him as I always have and that he can continue to exercise and play just as he always has.  After all, lots of people have heart murmurs and never die because of them.  At any rate, his loving looks and sweet disposition have won our hearts forever and he will remain in our thoughts always!  Thanks to the Gibb family of London for giving our sweet guy such a great home.  We will miss him, but we know he will be loved very much and will round out their family very well.  We look forward to hearing how he is doing as he matures!

Rankin at 1 yr 3 1/2 months old-May 2004

Rankin - Jaunary 8, 2005

"Come on, kick the ball, kick the ball!!!!!"

Rankin giving me the wink and letting me know he is ready for me to kick the basketball!

I have heard back from Rankin's new owners and he is doing great!!!!  They are absolutely in love with him and he with them!  Here is a great shot of him with his new owner Kristen!  They have even been stopped on the street by passing cars to find out where they got Rankin because he is such a looker!

Ramblin's Haley's Comet - aka Haley

Haley is from our most recent litter born February 1, 2005!  She is a very sweet girl and instead of me choosing a puppy to continue Alex's lines in our breeding program, Haley chose me!  When the puppies were very young, about 4 weeks old and up, Haley always wormed her way through the other puppies to be near me when I spent time with them.  She always scratched to get up on my lap and would snuggle there quite content and not even budge!  Any of the other puppies that I would pick up always squirmed around and wanted down after a few minutes, not Haley, she just sat there content as could be to be with me as much as possible.

She would even sit on my lap or on the block wall between my legs while I was talking to others and showing them the puppies.  It was like she was saying, "I am already taken, so look the other way - I am here to stay!"

I couldn't have been happier with her.  She looks a lot like her Mom but I think she has her Dad's outgoing personality!  She loved to play with Nick and gives him kisses on his ears every chance she got.  She was quite easy going with him too - she didn't get all wound up like other puppies I have had.  Don't get me wrong, she loved to play when we wanted her to, but she was also content to sack out on the floor too!  Her housetraining went well too!!!!!

Well, unfortunately, things don't alwasy go according to plan  Haley had to go to a new home recently (December 9, 2005) because she just got too big!  It is hard letting our guys go, but in our small house, we can't keep as many as I would like to and especially ones I can't use for breeding.  I wouldn't be able to continue breeding if I did and trust me I would keep them all if I could get away with it!!!!

I found her a great home and she is very loved and enjoys her new "sister" - a beagle very much!  Her new owner (Dee) is thrilled with her and gets a lot of comments from friends, family and even her vet on how great Haley is and how beautiful she is!  I really wish she hadn't gotten so big!

This is Haley and Dee when she picked Haley up at my Mom's house in December.

Thanks Dee for giving Haley such a great home!!!!  I look forward to updates as she grows!

Diamond in the Ruff – aka – CASEY

Casey was born to Alex (Camgold Alex) and Max (Kantung Nugget of Gold) on March 20, 2003.  She has 12 brothers and 4 sisters, all of which have found wonderful homes.   Casey now has another 6 - 1/2 brothers and 4 - 1/2 sisters that were born on February 1, 2005.

Casey is now over 2 years old and is a joy to have.  She is loving and playful and keeps the rest of her housemates and people young.  She is Mitchell's favourite dog out of the group and loves to play fetch outside with him.

Casey is a very beautiful medium golden colour with a soft, sweet expression.  She loves to play outside with the rest of our clan, especially Rankin since he is only a couple of months older than her.

She has done really well with her training and is a joy to have around.  She is very sweet and easy going - just like her mom, and loves to be the centre of attention!  Her favourite spot is right beside the bed at night and she follows me everywhere I go.

Hopefully, she will become a mom in the summer of 2005 - since she has passed all of her tests!  She has that sweet, loving, loyal temperament that goldens are known for and will be an asset to pass on and I have been told by other breeders that she would get a Championship no problem if I were to show her.

At this point in my life, kids, dogs and life in general are enough to keep me quite busy!  Spending the extra time it would take to prepare the dogs for showing and doing the actual showing, would definitely be a stretch and I am afraid that my family and the dogs/puppies would suffer because of it.  That is not to say that I will never show, just not at the present time.  For now, I will concentrate my efforts on my family and raising healthy, well adjusted, socialized puppies for you to enjoy!

Casey's Pedigree  Casey passed her yearly eye exam in May 2009 and tested clear for hip and elbow displaysia by the OVC in November of 2004.  Casey now has had her heart tested by a Certified Cardiologist and passed with flying colours, so she is good to go!  Casey has had 3 wonderful litters for us and has earned her retirement!

With past litters, Casey had shown us that she was going to be a great mom.  She loves to get in with the puppies (brothers and sisters) and help Alex clean them up and play with them.  Alex didn't mind the helping paw either!

Casey guarding her ball from Rankin.

Can you see a pattern here?  She just loves her tennis balls - in this picture she is trying her best to keep it away from Cody, but if he does actually happen to get it away from her, Casey is not long in getting it back!  She will actually go right into his mouth and steal it back!!  She sure keeps us laughing!

Update:  August 9, 2009 - Casey has gone to live with a wonderful family not too far from us and is enjoying the country life!  Thanks to the Thompson's for giving Casey such a loving home!

Ramblin's Hugs N Kisses aka Smooch

Smooch is a female puppy (Miss Purple) from Casey and Keegan's 2nd litter born November 1, 2006.  We purposely repeated this breeding because there wasn't a female puppy that made the cut in the first litter.  Well, they were both great in this litter so we kept the cream of the crop!  She is a beautiful puppy and is a very gentle soul.  She has a great head, is good and solid and will hopefully be our first one of our own breeding to make it to the show ring and succeed to get her Championship!  Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Smooch is now 7 months old and looking awesome!  I would be getting her out to some shows except I can't go far with Bailey's puppies taking up a lot of my time!  Keegan's owner came up last week and helped me get Smooch stacked on the table to get a look at her and see is she was indeed show worthy - what do you think?  We think she is the cutest thing ever, but I may just be a bit biased!!!!  LOL

I know this is not a good "stacked" shot of her, but I just love her face!!!  This is typical Smooch - smiling for me and Mitchell (behind the camera)!!!

Update:  July 2, 2009 - Things don't always work out as planned, unfortunately.  We have decided to get Smooch fixed so that her foster family can love and enjoy Smooch as they always have without the hassle of her going into heat.  Thanks to the Watt family of Port Elgin for giving Smooch and Bailey such a great home!

Dove Cottage Grace Under Fire aka Gracie

Gracie came to us from Sharon of Dove Cottage Goldens in the Port Perry area.  She came about totally by happenstance!  I was not thinking of getting another puppy at all until Sharon called me to let me know that she had a litter of puppies that she was looking for new homes for.  After getting the needed information from her, I saw a photo of Gracie's Dad.  Wow, what a handsome dude and a great pedigree to boot!  I then inquired about the mom's background and was hooked!  I had to have one of these puppies!  Sharon was gracious enough to agree to sell me a puppy and voila, Gracie is here and we are loving her to bits!  She is the most calm, confident, stubborn, sweet, gentle, easy going puppy I have ever had the pleasure to raise (yes, I said stubborn)!  She has captured all our hearts already and she has only been here for 3 days!

Gracie sacked out on the puppy bed after our long trip home (5 1/2 hours with a few stops) on Tuesday night.

Gracie sound asleep on my shoes - doesn't look that comfortable but she didn't move for about 1/2 an hour!

Is she cute or what????

Thank you Sharon for this sweet, sweet girl, she will do you proud!!!!

Gracie and Blaze snuggling beside my chair, a match made in heaven!

Update:  December 10, 2007

Well, Gracie has made an entrance into the show scene and what an entrance it has been!  Her first show was the Brantford Kennel Club show in Brantford, Ontario on the 1st and 2nd of December.  Her next show was December 7th - 9th at the Credit Valley Kennel Club show in Orangeville.
Gracie is a natural at the shows!  She absolutely loves to be on display and struts around the ring like she has been doing this for years!  Funny, especially since she isn't even 9 months old yet!

Update:  December 30, 2007

Gracie is now 9 months old and amazingly has a start to her Championship!  She now has 3 points from the Elora Gorge Kennel Club show in Kitchener held December 27th - 29th!!

For more info on her wins and recent shows, check her out on our Something to Brag About page!

Update:  January 6, 2008

Well our little Miss Gracie did it this time!  What do you think of our beautiful show puppy now?

Isn't she just the best looking mud puppy you ever saw?  LOL  This is our precious little show girl after a day spent in the yard during our January thaw!  The only thing that even looked remotely golden was her face!  Good thing we are taking a break from showing at the moment!

Update:  April 19, 2008

We are so proud of our sweet girl!  Gracie wins Best of Breed out of 30 Goldens under Judge Ann Ingram from Ireland!  What an accomplishment!  She also went on to win a Group 3rd as well!  With 5 points for this win, she is now up to 8 points - just 2 more to go and she is our 2nd Champion!  Thank you so much to Colin Brownlee for showing our special girl and to breeder Sharon Pascoe of Dove Cottage Goldens for this natural beauty.

Update:  July 20, 2009 - What a year it has been!  Wow, this is a tough one!  It may seem like we are weeding out our dogs, but not the case at all, just seems like it is a year for coming and going!  Gracie ended up with the start of cataracts at the tender young age of 2 so we won't be able to breed her.  Unfortunately, this is hereditary and we don't want to take the chance of passing it on.  It was a tough decision but we decided to let Gracie go to a new home.  Luckily, Jeff's new family doctor was sort of looking for a dog.  She is perfect for them!  She is the most easy going, gentle dog ever and very well behaved!  Perfect for a family that has never had a dog before.  She loves the boys since she has had the pleasure of their company on play dates (their son and ours are in school together).  Anyway, she went for a week's trial run and never came back.  We miss her terribly but are thrilled that she is so close to home and we will be able to see her and have her visit when they go away.  Thanks Hollohan's for giving Gracie the home she deserves!

Get out your kleenex for this one and then go hug your dog!

I Am Your Dog
Author Unknown

I am your dog, and I have a little something I'd like to whisper in your ear. I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work, some have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things in life.

Look down at me now, while you sit there at your computer. See the way my dark brown eyes look at yours? They are slightly cloudy now. That comes with age. The gray hairs are beginning to ring my soft muzzle.

You smile at me; I see love in your eyes. What do you see in mine? Do you see a spirit? A soul inside, who loves you as no other could in the world? A spirit that would forgive all trespasses of prior wrong doing for just a simple moment of your time? That is all I ask. To slow down, if even for a few minutes to be with me. So many times you have been saddened by the words you read on that screen, of others of my kind, passing.

Sometimes we die young and oh so quickly; sometimes so suddenly it wrenches your heart out of your throat. Sometimes, we age so slowly before your eyes that you may not even seem to know until the very end, when we look at you with grizzled muzzles and cataract clouded eyes. Still the love is always there, even when we must take that long sleep, to run free in a distant land. I may not be here tomorrow; I may not be here next week.

Someday you will shed the water from your eyes, that humans have when deep grief fills their souls, and you will be angry at yourself that you did not have just "One more day" with me.
Because I love you so, your sorrow touches my spirit and grieves me. We have NOW, together. So come, sit down here next to me on the floor, and look deep into my eyes. What do you see? If you look hard and deep enough we will talk, you and I, heart to heart.

Come to me not as "alpha" or as "trainer" or even "Mom or Dad," come to me as a living soul and stroke my fur and let us look deep into one another's eyes, and talk. I may tell you something about the fun of chasing a tennis ball, or I may tell you something profound about myself, or even life in general.

You decided to have me in your life because you wanted a soul to share such things with. Someone very different from you, and here I am. I am a dog, but I am alive. I feel emotion, I feel physical senses, and I can revel in the differences of our spirits and souls. I do not think of you as a "Dog on two feet." I know what you are. You are human, in all your quirkiness, and I love you still.

Now, come sit with me, on the floor. Enter my world, and let time slow down if only for 15 minutes. Look deep into my eyes, and whisper to my ears. Speak with your heart, with your joy and I will know your true self. We may not have tomorrow, and life is oh so very short . . .
So please--come sit with me now and let us share these precious moments we have together.

Love, on behalf of canines everywhere.

Your Dog."

A Thought for Today

I recently got this in an email from a friend, who likely got it from a friend, who likely got it from a friend - well you get the idea.  Anyway, I thought this was a great, thought provoking piece for this site.  Enjoy!!

A Thought for today......Inner Strength

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can get going without pep pills,

If you can always be cheerful,

ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and

boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every

day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved

ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can overlook it when those you love

take it out on you when, through no fault

of yours, something goes wrong,

If you can take criticism and

blame without resentment,

If you can ignore a friend's limited

education and never correct him,

If you can resist treating a rich friend

better than a poor friend,

If you can face the world

without lies and deceit,

If you can conquer tension

without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

Then You Are Probably...............
